Craig Barnett

Craig is a Director at Fairway with over 24 years’ experience as a quantity surveyor, including 18 with Gardiner & Theobald (G&T) where he was a Partner. Craig is a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and has specialist qualifications in construction law (LL.M) and legal practice (LPC).

During his career at G&T, Craig worked extensively in the rail and infrastructure consultancy groups, and as an adviser to banks and other institutions providing project finance across various sectors and on a number of major UK landmark developments and urban regeneration projects.

Craig’s work in the rail sector has largely focussed on the commercial management of dispute-related matters including support on major civil engineering disputes, property damage and loss insurance claims, and professional negligence claims.


Since joining Fairway, Craig has acted in disputes in the UK and internationally, been appointed as quantum expert and testified in an International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) arbitration, and been appointed the expert in a number of professional negligence claims against surveyors in the Technology and Construction Court (TCC). Craig has provided expert witness support in mediations, adjudications, matters in the TCC and in ICC arbitrations; the latter in connection with substantial disputes in the aviation, civil engineering and power and energy sectors.
